Immigration Deform from the duo that gave us No Child Left Behind...

WASHINGTON (AP) - In a striking reach across party lines, the White House and key lawmakers agreed Thursday on a sweeping immigration plan to grant legal status to millions of people in the country unlawfully.....Sealed after months of secretive bargaining, the deal mandates bolstered border security and a high-tech employment verification system to prevent illegal workers from getting jobs...The proposal constitutes a far-reaching change in the immigration system that would admit future arrivals seeking to put down roots in the U.S. based on their skills, education levels and job experience, limiting the importance of family ties. the proposed plan would shift from an immigration system primarily weighted toward family ties toward one with preferences for people with advanced degrees and sophisticated skills. Republicans have long sought such revisions, which they say are needed to end "chain migration" that harms the economy. -Deal May Legalize Millions of Immigrants AP via My way May 17, 2007
What a duo Bush and Kennedy make. Both trust fund babies of ruthless Northeastern Banking families who have never worked a honest day in their life. The last thing this duo worked out was No Child Left Behind, or more accurately "No Teacher's Union Left Behind." That bill was supposed to assure parents that the school system was actually educating their kids by requiring tests to evaluate the performance of the teacher. But, turns out, the tests are written by the teachers themselves and the whole system is gamed to cover up the problems. Might as well have let the students grade themselves, and saved MILLIONS in taxpayer subsidies to an already bloated educational cartel.
Now the same team that caved into the special interests on education, wants to do the same thing with immigration. It's another backroom deal that Bush is going to try to ram through the Congress with no time for debate or the public to find out what is going on. Essentially, it's the same old idea that got rejected last year: Bush and Kennedy want to turn over America's immigration policy to the Corporations. Who gets in and why will shift from the public to unscrupulous businesses and big corporations.
Rather the adopt this turkey, I'd opt for Mexico's immigration policy!
Look, if American businesses need workers with advanced degrees and high-tech skills, then doesn't that mean that "No Child Left Behind" isn't working? Isn't that what it was supposed to fix? To make Americans competitive in the "New World Order"? It's not because a ton of American workers wouldn't like those high-paying jobs. It just means that the Department of the Education, the colleges and universities, the Teachers Unions, and the American Education Association are just plain not doing what they are being paid paying good money for them to do. Why don't we fix that instead of importing the most highly educated foreign workers, which are desperatedly needed in their own countries.
It's very simple guys---first prove you can enforce border security, and then after a few years we'll talk about "guest worker programs" and dealing with the illegals already here. In the meantime, cut off the welfare to the illegals, the food stamps, the subsidized housing, the small business loans, the free education, free medical care...and these guys will just go home. Obviously, they are not here for the wages they earn, which every ordinary American knows you can't live on without going on welfare.
