Let's tiptoe through the Garden of Good and Evil

'Breathtaking Inanity': How Intelligent Design Flunked Its Test Case /A federal judge minces no words as he comes down against evolution's rival By SEAN SCULLY Time Magazine Online / Health Dec. 20, 2005 http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1142625-1,00.html

Everyman is bewildered at the hoopla that we hear from the cosmopolitan elite on the dangers of including "Intelligent Design" in school curriculiums. Why is a lesson in humility for the advocates of Darwinism such a dangerous idea?

After all, "Intelligent Design" is basically a statement that science is not sufficient for understanding the world. Science is important, and the key to power and much understanding; it may be a lot; but perhaps it is not everything.

First they vote, then they throw us out.

We Vote, and then we throw you out. / The Roving Eye-Asian Times Online/ by Pepe Escabar Dec 15 05 http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/GL15Ak03.html

Mr. Everyman observed yesterday that the major political impact of the Iraqi elections is that the American Public thinks that it brings us closer to getting our troops out of there. Now it looks like that the Iraqis are as anxious for Americans to LEAVE as the American Public is anxious that we will soon be able to leave!

Listening to Bush2 and Company brag about the success of the Iraqi Elections doesn't diminish the fact that the majority of Americans want Bush2 to bring the troops home.  Obviously, the elections were perceived by the public as successful because they will bring the US Military closer to a complete withdrawal.

And the political implication is that Bush2's leadership has been a failure. The Public expects Bush2 to keep his word, and withdraw troops and let the Iraqi's defend their own country.

Has Bush won more time to fix Iraq?

Poll: Bush fails to sway public on Iraq By Susan Page, USA TODAY Updated 12/19/2005
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-12-19-poll_x.htm

Bush promised the American People that when the "Iraqis are ready to stand up, the US will stand down", and begin withdrawal of our troops from Iraq.  The public thinks he'll keep his promise to withdraw troops as the Iraqis begin to rebuild their government, police and defense.

The latest USAToday/CNN polls indicate that the recent improvements in Bush's approval ratings reflect the public impression that the success of the Iraq elections will bring the US closer to troop withdrawals.

Drowning in the River of Denial: NY Transit Strike

Posted by Joe_Populist at 18:21:23 | Permanent Link | Comments (0) |

What's behind Bush's rising approval ratings?

Bush's approval rating on Iraq are up 10 points from November. Mr. Everyman thinks public is interpreting the recent success of the Iraq elections as a positive sign that the US will begin troop withdrawals from Iraq in the near future.

Bush's admissions that the intelligence was faulty, and that the war is not going as well as he told us, are all signs that the public thinks Bush has the message they were sending him, that they are not going to support a permanent occupation of Iraq.

Significantly, in the same poll, Bush's approval rating on IMMIGRATION did not go up, holding at 58% disapproval, proving that the public is NOT happy with his guest worker program.

Mr Everyman's view of the values of the American People are holding true. I've always believed that the American People are largely POPULIST, meaning that they are traditional on social issues like gay marriage, abortion-on-demand and unrestrained immigration, liberal on economic issues like Social Security and Globalization, and opposed to internationalism in foreign policy matters.

Is Bush a Zionist?

The inspiration of the Bush Doctrine is bringing "Democracy to the Mideast".  Even his rhetoric of 'evil-doers' comes right out of Israeli Prime Minister/Likkud Party apparatnik Natan Sharansky's book, "The Case for Democracy: The Power of Freedom to Overcome Tyranny and Terror"
"If you want a glimpse of how I think about foreign policy read Natan Sharansky's book `The Case for Democracy.' ...It's a great book." "I think it will...explain a lot of the decisions that...you've seen made and will continue to see made."....This book is part of my presidential DNA...It's what I think...It is part of my philosophy."

Are Democrats a regional party?

It's not to hard for Mr. Everyman to see why the Democrats are in so much trouble. It's not for no reason that the Democrats are associated in the public mind with gay marriage, aethism, abortion-on-demand, teacher's unions and opposition to education reform, no-growth environmentalism, smoking bans, and the rest of the secular humanist bag. You can't win elections with only the votes of well-to-do urban liberals, blacks, single women, and government workers.

As a followup proof to the previous post on Liberalism's roots in Puritan New England, we offer the 2004 electoral map, with the "blue" states consisting of New England, and the areas settled by Protestant reformers along the upper midwest, and in the Northwest.

Another interesting article by Michael Lind, from American Prospect online, on why the Democrats are incapable of winning a national election.

What’s the matter with Massachusetts? The Democrats are far too dependent on it. Go Midwest, young man.

Are Liberals Puritans?

Mr. Everyman gets accused of being too influenced by Pat Buchanan. But the truth
is I'm closer to Michael Lind's ideas, the author of the book, "Up
from Conservativism: Why the Right is wrong for America".

Great essay: What's the matter with Massachusetts? The Democrats are far too dependent on it. Go Midwest, young man. American Prospect online. by Michael Lind

Michael Lind observes that modern liberalism has it roots in the heritage of New England Puritanism. If you look at the RED/BLUE map, the "blue" areas are the areas settled by New England Protestant reformers. Linguistic studies also back up this theory.
